NHY's ARThaus 2015: Paint Your Own Pottery Event is taking place at Color Me Mine, a family-friendly art studio where you get to paint your own pottery, on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 5:45 pm – 8:45 pmTaking place at both Color Me Mine locations in Las Vegas and Henderson, this event is going to be loads of fun, not to mention a perfect weekend activity that the entire family can enjoy.  Complete with finger foods, refreshments, goodie bags & a raffle with cool prizes, NHY's ARThaus 2015 is an amazing opportunity to be immersed in creativity and discover the artist within. The cost for adults is $10 and the cost for children 12 and younger is $6.00. (Pricing does not include the cost of ceramic items)

Upon arriving at the studio, attendees will select a piece of pottery from Color Me Mine's vast inventory, ranging from cute little frogs to salad bowls that can be used at the dinner table.  Once a ceramic piece has been selected, the painting and fun begins!  After attendees add the final touches to their works of art, the painted pieces will be glazed, fired, and ready for pick up in a few days.  Color Me Mine has generously agreed to donate 50% of the sales from NHY's ARThaus 2015 fundraising event to Nevada Homes

for Youth, to continue the fight against teen substance abuse.  “Recovery is a long and arduous road, but it is possible, and we want to celebrate those brave individuals who have fought to recover, as well as increase awareness about the hard truth that so many teens struggle with addiction”, says Ronald C. Moore, MSW, Executive Director.

“Teen substance abuse is a real problem that is facing our community, which is why it is so important to Nevada Homes for Youth to get the community involved and engaged in this fight.”

Nevada Homes for Youth is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential substance abuse treatment programming, support and education to at-risk teens struggling with addiction.  Compared to the rest of the United States, the youth of Nevada have significantly higher overall rates for illicit drug use, marijuana use and non-medical use of pain relievers.  The tools and the know-how to help these teens prevent and/or recover from addiction and substance abuse exist and are available— if we make it a priority.

About National Recovery Month

National Recovery Month (Recovery Month) is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with a mental and/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life.

Recovery Month celebrates the gains made by those in recovery, just as we celebrate health improvements made by those who are managing other health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and heart disease. The observance reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.  www.recoverymonth.gov
